Pseudo-Wires: The Essential Network Technology Available from Axerra

Pseudo-wires are being recognized today as an essential network technology because they enable service providers to offer a full complement of emerging and legacy services from IP/MPLS networks. Pseudo-wires provide new revenue opportunities while enabling a smooth migration to a single converged network, without stranding any revenue streams from legacy services.

Axerra Networks' pseudo-wire solutions employ the only technology that has been field-tested and successfully deployed by carriers worldwide in three distinct and growing markets: mobile/cellular, cable, and metro Ethernet. In addition, only Axerra's solutions enable the industry's most comprehensive set of services, including TDM, IP, Frame Relay, Transparent LANs, and ATM. The value of Axerra's technology is further evidenced by the top-tier vendors and service providers who partner with Axerra, as well as by Axerra's reputation for technical excellence in contributions to industry standards organizations. Axerra is well-positioned to lead the industry as service providers increasingly adopt pseudo-wire networking.

Axerra Announces "AXN Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices™"

Axerra Networks announces a new class of product: Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices. Axerra has taken Multiservice over Packet (MSoP) technology to the next level with the addition of standards-based functionality to Axerra's industry-leading circuit emulation and service emulation over IP. Axerra has been a driving force in industry standardization efforts at the IETF, the MPLS-Frame Relay Alliance, and the Metro Ethernet Forum. These efforts are rapidly reaching fruition, propelling the adoption of pseudo-wires by the service provider industry. With the addition of this new standards-based interoperability, Axerra's AXN family of products define a new category of Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices. Axerra's AXN product family consists of the following:

Pseudo-Wire Gateways:
AXN1600 (in ETSI and NEBS-certified form factors)
   AXN800
   AXN100

Pseudo-Wire Access Devices:
   AXN10
   AXN1

An early innovator of multiservice interworking, Axerra Networks introduced pseudo-wires as multiservice over packet (MSoP) technology and coined the terms Multiservice over IP, Circuit Emulation Service over IP, Frame Relay over IP, and ATM over IP. These capabilities are an integral part of Axerra’s pseudo-wire solutions.

With Axerra’s pseudo-wire solutions, all types of service providers can offer a full portfolio of voice and data services to their customers. Pseudo-wire technology furnishes greater operational efficiency while simultaneously enabling a smooth migration strategy to a single converged network based on IP and MPLS, without stranding revenue streams from legacy services.
